Stop The Mexican coach Aguirre

CITY, Mexico - Javier Aguirre on Wednesday announced his resignation as coach of Mexico, following the defeat of his team from Argentina in the last 16 World Cup.

50-year-old coach before replacing the former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson in April 2009.

But Sunday's 3-1 defeat against Argentina in Johannesburg, is the fifth consecutive time the country failed in the second round stage.

"It's very clear. The first person is my responsibility. I believe that I should resign from my job," Aguirre said at a news conference.

"This solution is the most honest, the most fair and it's something I should do."

Aguirre was in the period both as a national coach who took Mexico to qualify for the World Cup in 2002, where they were eliminated by the United States in the round of 16 large.

He also led Mexico to the Copa America final in 2001, where they lost to Colombia in Bogota. Mexico's best performance at the World Cup was to reach the quarter-finals in 1970 and 1986, when the tournament was staged in their own countries.
